‘Tis the season for piña coladas! Nothing beats the heat like a creamy, tropical drink—but the calories that come with it can put a damper on your beach or pool party. (Did you know a typical colada has 425 calories?!) And that’s where coconut water—which is already one of our favorite things—comes in. Not only is coconut water delicious, it’s low in calories, cholesterol free, aids in digestion, and is extra hydrating thanks to all the minerals it contains. It also happens to be a helpful hangover remedy (is this becoming a theme?).
Cool off with this easy piña colada recipe from Taste Nirvana that uses coconut water for that taste of tropical. Your waistline, your skin, and your taste-buds will thank you. If you prefer a frosty version, blend everything up with some ice. The whole thing comes in at about 115 calories.
