Raw cacao powder—like in these Chocolate Chia Protein Balls and our Healthy Chocolate Smoothie recipe—is a great way to get all the antioxidant-rich, detox-friendly, heart-healthy benefits of chocolate without added dairy, sugar or preservatives.
This healthy, vegan chocolate shake uses raw cacao (you can also use dark cocoa) to create that satisfying chocolate flavor. Dates and bananas help sweeten the drink, and coconut milk makes it creamy but non-dairy. Perfect for a quick chocolaty treat, or a good-for-you vegan dessert.

Antioxidant-Rich Vegan Chocolate Shake with Raw Cacao
- 1 can coconut milk
- 3 to 4 pitted dates
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder or dark cocoa
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 banana
- Add all the ingredients to a blender in the order listed. Blend until smooth. Garnish with more cacao or cocoa if desired.
