This post was created in partnership with SAMBAZON. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve been cooking and eating at home much more lately, so it’s safe to say that I’m officially searching for new recipes and ingredients to shake up my morning breakfast routine. This new year, that means testing out new better-for-you smoothie recipes to keep things interesting.
This dairy-free Lemon Berry Açaí Smoothie Bowl recipe has become a new favorite—so much so that I’m finding myself not only eating it at breakfast, but it also serves as a great post-workout snack or afternoon treat.
I love that the addition of fresh-squeezed lemon keeps this Açaí bowl from being overly sweet (my smoothie pet peeve), while the berries and banana add the perfect touch of natural sweetness.
The best part about this recipe is that it comes together so quickly with the addition of these SAMBAZON Açaí Superfruit Packs, which make it easy to create delicious Açaí bowls and smoothies that can be customized to your flavor preference and dietary needs. Plus, these packs make it easy to enjoy an Açaí bowl from the comfort and safety of your home—no trip to your neighborhood smoothie shop required.
The flavor of the Açaí in this bowl is the perfect complement to the tartness of the lemon and the sweetness of the mixed berries and banana. The consistency of this bowl is thick and creamy, and if you add kale or spinach into this blend of flavors, you won’t even know it’s there (I promise).
My favorite thing about incorporating these SAMBAZON Açaí Superfruit Packs into recipes—aside from the fact that they are dairy-free/vegan, non-GMO, organic and made with fair trade Açaí —is that they are ready and waiting in my freezer whenever I want to experiment with new smoothie bowl ideas. They make a great addition to smoothies or bowls because they not only make the prep process easier, but they also add antioxidants and omegas* into the mix.
Plus, Açaí, also known as the super food of all super foods, is naturally low in sugar and high in fiber, iron, calcium and vitamin C, which makes it an ideal smoothie ingredient, especially this time of year.
For this recipe, I opted to use the SAMBAZON Açaí Pure Unsweetened Superfruit Packs, which contain pure organic and fair trade Açaí puree with zero grams of sugar and 70 calories per serving. I appreciate that these packs have no added sugar because the fruit in this recipe really does provide all the sweetness you need.
Since toppings are always a quintessential part of crafting the perfect smoothie bowl, I topped this bowl with coconut flakes as well as nuts and seeds for texture and a little crunch. I also like to add a couple slices of fresh lemon as a garnish—that extra squeeze amplifies the sweet, tart quality that makes me crave this recipe. You can also add some frozen berries if you’d like.
One thing to keep in mind as you’re blending the ingredients: you’re looking to achieve a smooth but scoopable consistency. You’ll want to blend it until it’s completely smooth, adding more dairy-free milk as needed.
As I’m blending, I always like to scrape the side of the blender regularly to keep the mixture moving. And remember, the longer you blend, the thinner the smoothie will become, so use a light touch with the nut milk to achieve that thick smoothie bowl consistency.
How would you work these Açaí packs into your daily smoothie routine? I’m always looking for new flavor pairing ideas!
