Every spring and summer, just as I start letting my guard down, someone in the family gets sick. This year it was my husband who brought home a nice sinus infection from a business trip. Even though cold and flu season is over, it’s a stark reminder that I can’t start neglecting my own immune system. So I’ve made a morning habit of sipping this immune-supporting reishi latte. It’s made with good-for-you ingredients like Traditional Medicinals Reishi Mushroom Tea, cinnamon and a pinch of turmeric to support a healthy immune system* and give you a pleasantly earthy and citrus start to your morning.
Enjoy this regular morning elixir for gentle, daily immune support throughout the year.*
Immune Supporting Reishi Latte
What really makes this latte so beneficial is the reishi mushroom extract found in Traditional Medicinals Reishi Mushroom tea. Known in Asia for 4,000 years as the “mushroom of immortality,” reishi mushroom helps support the immune system and keep the body in balance. And when combined with rooibos and orange peel, it transforms your morning brew into a wellness elixir that keeps you happy, healthy and supported when you might otherwise be feeling rundown.
To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by how good this tea tastes. I’m a huge fan of Traditional Medicinals teas (I have never met a tea from them I didn’t like) but I’m not the biggest fan of mushrooms. There’s just something about their woody, earthy flavor that doesn’t sit well with me. But while trying out different recipes and ingredients in my morning latte, I ended up drinking a lot of Reishi Mushroom tea straight from the cup – and it’s good.
It’s mellow and slightly sweet thanks to the rooibos and sweet orange peel. And not overly bold or mushroom-y, if you know what I mean. Just light, citrusy and sort of sweet, perfect for drinking as is or turning into a superfood latte.
Personally, I like to use coconut oil, cinnamon and a pinch of turmeric and bee pollen in my lattes. Feel free to add coconut or cashew milk if you like yours to feel a little more substantive, but I usually skip it. Instead, I blend the hot tea with coconut oil in the blender, which gives it a creamy frothiness similar to traditional coffee shop lattes. And the cinnamon and turmeric help stabilize blood sugar while a little sprinkle of bee pollen gives you some extra immune support.
