Equipment

  • Glass jar with lid
  • Cheesecloth
  • Mesh strainer

Ingredients

  • Whole bean coffee
  • Filtered water

Instructions

  • In a glass jar, combine ½ cup coarsely ground coffee for every 1 cup of water.
  • Stir well to combine. Then place the jar in a dark corner on the counter and let it steep at room temperature for 12 hours. After the 12-hour period is up, you can either drink the coffee as is or move it to the refrigerator and let it steep for another 8 hours (20 hours total) for an even stronger coffee.
  • Use a cheese cloth and a mesh strainer to separate the grounds from the coffee concentrate. Store coffee in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • When ready to drink, pour coffee over ice or dilute with milk to taste.

Notes

Lavender Oat Milk Latte
Start by making the lavender simple syrup: combine water, honey and lavender in a small saucepan and bring to a light simmer. Swirl the pan a couple times to dissolve the honey, then remove from heat and let sit for an hour, stirring every now and then. Strain the syrup and store in an airtight container.
Place ice cubes in a cup and pour coffee over ice. Add the oatmilk, vanilla extract and 2-3 teaspoons lavender simply syrup. Garnish with extra lavender if desired.
Sea Salt Iced Coffee
Place several ice cubes in a glass. Add the coffee and sweetener to taste. Next, combine full fat cream and a pinch of sea salt in a small bowl. Use a wire whisk or a milk frother to whip the cream until it’s light and frothy (about 20-30 seconds). Pour the cream on top of the coffee and give it a gentle stir.
Maca Cacao Iced Coffee
Combine everything in a glass and mix well. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon or ginger for added flavor.
