Cut two rectangles measuring 10.5 inches x 13 inches from the organic cotton (for lining); two rectangles measuring 6 inches x 13 inches from the organic cotton canvas and two rectangles measuring 5 inches x 13 inches from the organic cotton/linen poplin (for exterior). Sew together the canvas with the cotton/linen poplin with 1/2-inch seam allowance and press open. Trim exterior and interior rectangles so that the top narrows to 12 inches.
Layer one interior piece face up, line up one edge of zipper and layer exterior piece right side facing down. Sew together stop and start at beginning and end of zipper. Fold these pieces of fabric out of the way and repeat for other edge of zipper.
Holding zipper out of the way, and right sides of exterior facing, continue sewing all the way around. Repeat for lining leaving a gap along the bottom edge of the lining (for turning)
Sew a line measuring 3 inches perpendicular to the bottom corners of the exerior and interior. Trim corner.
Repeat for the top corners, but sew a line measuring 2 inches. Trim corners
Turn zipper pouch right side out through gap in lining.
Close gap in lining by top stitching or by hand.
This is a great idea. I love the patterns!
Thank you for sharing this tutorial! It seems like something even a beginner could try (aka me!). I looks like I have a fun project for my next day off.
